Dance Cumbria Youth 2015/16

Vista Projects manages the Dance Cumbria Youth programme funded by Arts Council England for 2015/16.  Dance Cumbria Youth comprises two countywide youth dance companies for young people aged 11-18 years who wish to excel at either contemporary dance (led by Rachel Towe) or breakdance (led by Nathan Geering). Company members were selected at an audition in May 2015 in conjunction with the Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) Open Day in Cumbria.  Both the contemporary and the breakdance companies meet once a month for a full day; they work with visiting artists to choreograph new work for performance locally & regionally, get the chance to see professional performances, undertake visits & exchanges with other youth dance companies, achieve their Bronze or Silver Arts Awards & have access to weekly technique classes delivered as part of the CAT scheme in Cumbria.

Dance Cumbria Youth provides a next-step progression route for young people in Cumbria who attend district youth dance companies, study dance/performing arts at GCSE level or attend private dance schools.  It encourages them to consider dance as a possible career path via the CAT scheme and further education and exists to inspire the next generation of Cumbrian dancers.

We are seeking local companies to sponsor Dance Cumbria Youth from 2016/17.  For more information contact lynn@vistaprojects.co.uk or 07584 251352.
