Aeolus by Luke Jerram
During 2010 Christian has been asked by the artist Luke Jerram to bring his expertise in the commissioning of large scale sculpture projects as ‘project mentor’ to Luke’s giant artwork Aeolus. The project is a jointly funded though the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research at the University of Southampton, Salford University, Arts Council Lottery, the EPSRC and Luke Jerram. The project is managed by Carolyn Black (firstname.lastname@example.org) to whom all enquiries about it should be made. Aeolus will go into production in early 2011 and will begin touring in Summer.
Aeolus will ’sonify’ the three dimensional landscape of wind, using a web of Aeolian harps, The public will be able to visualise this shifting wind map by interpreting the sound around them. Once completed, the artwork will tour the windy hill tops of the UK, before being installed as permanent artwork, somewhere in the UK.
